Our owner, Josua F Lowe is a professional civil engineer who majored in concrete technology and structures. Apart from his B.Sc. B.Eng. Civil Engineering degree, which he obtained in 1972, he also has an honours degree in business administration.

His initial exposure to the engineering fraternity was as a bridge designer for a consulting engineering firm, where after he became ‘district construction engineer’ for a government roads department, and then had a brief stint as ‘assistant town engineer’ for a local municipality. He then migrated to private construction, and soon became director of a medium sized civil engineering company, specializing in the construction of bridges, water reservoirs, railway lines, roads and pipelines. He was also involved in underground and open cast mining, and built several factories and domestic residences.

In 1982 he was recruited by a close friend, also a professional engineer, who was then a construction and engineering insurance broker, to become an insurance loss adjuster, specializing in technical and engineering claims.

Since then, he had been appointed by almost the whole spectrum of insurance companies to handle insurance claims relating to fire, plant, machinery breakdown, loss of profits, liability, theft and contractors all risks on their behalf.

To date he has settled thousands of these claims effectively, in the process building an unparalleled experience of the ins and outs of complex claims.

Recently he has also been appointed by the Engineering Council of South Africa as an expert to determine whether Professional Engineers had transgressed the Code of Ethics in the event of catastrophic collapses on building sites.
